boy oh boy

backlog No.1: first steps & canvases.

First installment in my past projects series!

A LONG TIME AGO.... (alright maybe just 2 years ago)

I used to think scrapping was one of the most RIDICULOUS things in the world. People who sat there for hours and spent loads and loads of cash on things that they eventually store in a book somewhere (which was kinda ironic as I do traditional art).

But anyway, the moment I bought my first mini paper deck (from BasicGrey, I believe) all that changed. I still thought it was ridiculous but I realized it was REALLY fun! So, I started making gifts for people in the form of little boards, mostly small canvas panels that came with little miniature easels to stand them up on.

One of the first I did was a birthday present for my mom:

Simple, really really very simple. Materials include me & my BIG ideas Paper, KCK Crafts brads, and ribbon from this local store called Prints that I totally adore though it's SO expensive!

As time progressed I started decorating photo frames too. They were given away undocumented, sadly.. :(
From then I began purchasing ribbons and brads, and a few more minidecks of paper. Shopping for the materials was heaven! I admit, I've always had a stationery obsession and scrapbook stores fueled it. x.x

Well, approximately one year and a week from this date I did probably my first real taste of what it was like to layer and use embellishments. I went all-out to help one of my pals make a 17th birthday present for her then-boyfriend and TA-DAAAAA...

It turned out alright, but as you can tell the layout is kinda unstructured. Some of the materials here include Studio Calico's Fabrips, Cosmo Cricket's Boyfriend paper series (har har)  & American Crafts' Thickers Letters (in Niki Riki).

That's it for now folks. I'll be uploading more backlogs around once a fortnight, so watch out for them! =)

Cheers~

SCOTTY AND LAUREN ARE AWESOME.

and i don't even like country music.

well. although this season of AI was kinda disappointing, I must say I'm impressed with the finalists.
I really really applaud both Scotty and Lauren for openly talking about their faith (omg they're younger than me!) Most young people don't take religion seriously, especially on NATIONAL TELEVISION INFRONT OF THE WHOLE COUNTRY.
They both told the press that they pray together and it's a regular feature before each performance. And well, to prove that he's got stuff straight, the first person Scotty thanked was God.

they both are such sweethearts!

take the stage

of song, dance, and comedy

hello there, this is my first official post.
well... I know this is supposed to be a scrapblog, but my projects are few and rather far between so most of the time it'll be photos or whatsoever is on my mind.
I will be uploading backlogged scrap projects soon, but in the meantime...

The exams just ended so the day was filled with activities, including a Film Literacy Class that covered the history and milestones in Southeast-Asian Cinema, especially in a localized context. Well, between the cool vintage 'cinematographs' and snippets of Singaporean-indie productions, we got pretty bored.  I'd never EVER dare to get a real tattoo, but honestly these black ballpoint inks looked rather realistic, which is sufficiently awesome. :D

The highlight of the day by far, however, was the annual Talent Search Finals. This year had quite a wide variety of performances. There were the  rock bands (Dice & C.P.) an all-girl Acapella group (Choo Choo Train), a pajama-loving quartet (the Quarterers), a solo of 'Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You' and a duet  that had the whole auditorium cheering.

The more eccentric acts included a wonderfully theatrical cover from the musical Love Never Dies and a Japanese song from Final Fantasy XIII with the singer decked in full Cosplay garb. There was also a pair of girls who did a comedy short about unrequited Puppy Love that was Charlie Chaplin inspired for sure!

Last but not least were the Dance Groups! They were simply awesome. A troupe named Minus^2 did a mashup that borrowed from Step Up 2's famous raindance closing scene (with Moose as a "puppetmaster"), whilst another (Beast[X]) did a duo of Korean pop songs changing roles from 'guys' to 'girls' halfway through. A class put together a Gleeky rendition of "Dancing Queen" too!

So... this marks the end of my first post. =)
